The exhibition “Alphonse Mucha — the Czech Master of Belle Epoque” is a joint project of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and the Moravian Gallery in Brno. Its basis is formed by Mucha’s best period — the one in Paris when he made it as an illustrator, designer of posters and decorative panels as well as author of decorative patterns of applied arts in general, which in fact summarized the best of the Art Nouveau style. A smaller section of the exhibition features Mucha’s graphic works from his American (from 1904) and later Czech (from 1910) periods.

After its opening in Kyoto on 1 September 2006 the exhibition will travel for a year around six other cities in Japan.
