The exhibition takes place on the occasion of completion of the international project Ornamental Prints supported by EU—Culture 2000 and depicts the development of ornament from the Italian and German Renaissance up to the Baroque period in ornamental prints, which beginning in the 16th century served as patterns for architects, artists and decorators. It includes Renaissance grotesques and arabesques, Mannerist fantasies of Aegidius Sadeler and Stefan della Bella as well as works by Baroque designers Jean Lepauter, Daniel Marot and Françoise de Cuvilliés.

The exhibition has been prepared to close the project “Ornamental Prints” realized by the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, Kunstbibliothek Berlin and MAK Wien, which have created a joint on-line database of their funds of ornamental patterns within its framework.
