Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague
The word “glamour” originally meant “occult learning, magic” that imbued an object or person with alluring charm. In the late 19th century, the word gradually lost its magical meaning, designating instead an endeavour to increase the attractiveness of one’s appearance. Today, the term stands for an air of compelling charm or fascination with an object or person who – through luxury or elegance – goes beyond the bounds of reality.

The exhibition presents a selection of fifty women’s formal and evening garments of Czech and foreign provenance, made over the past sixty years. Featured in the display are the main fashion trends and basic types of social attire (for example, coctail dresses, small black dresses and ball gowns). Original fashion model outfits by Czech designers document the advances in clothing of the last two decades.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of lectures, guided tours and other activities.
