Jan Lauschmann (1901—1991) ranks among the important figures of the emerging generation of Czech photographers of the early 1920s. A member of various amateur photographic clubs, he was at the same time one of the greatest experts in photographic chemistry and materials. The exhibition explores that part of Lauschmann’s artistic legacy, in which he captured the day-to-day life of the two largest cities of the young Czechoslovak Republic. His informal images, executed in the form of excellent enlargements, also employ avant-garde principles of composition.
