Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague
The exhibition presents the history and the present of the Glassmaking School) founded in 1856, which is the oldest of its kind in the world. It features works of prominent artists linked with the school, particularly those of the post-World War II period. Many examples of studio glass, the new field of art which Czech glass designers helped in a decisive way to create and develop, is complemented by glass designed for domestic production and a collection of student designs.

The exhibition takes place at two venues – the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague (15 June – 17 September 2006) and at the Design Center of the Czech Republic) (15 June – 16 August 2006; open on Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

The exhibition is accompanied by an active program. Guided tours will take place on 27 June, 11 July, 15 August and a 5 September at 5 p.m. in the main exhibition hall of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.

UNESCO has included the school’s anniversary in its calendar of events for 2006—2007. An accompanying book with full-color photographs has been published in Czech and English versions to commemorate the occasion.

The exhibition is held under the patronage of the Minister of Education Petra Buzková and the Governor of the Liberec Regional Authority Petr Skokan.
