The exhibition centres on furniture designed by Charles and Ray Eames, which has lost nothing of its relevance and validity even decades after its conception. Shown are the highlights of the couple’s furniture designs, created between 1940 and 1970, beginning with their first experiments in plywood, fibreglass and wire, right up to their famous products such as the Lounge Chair or the Aluminium Chair. The pieces are displayed in production groups according to the type of material used: plywood, synthetics, wire and aluminium. Photographs, documents, films and explanatory texts offer comprehensive information on the historical background of the designs and the special construction of the objects on view.
