Edition Design – profiles – personalities<\/p>\n

The work of Vojt\u011bch Preissig, one of the most significant Czech artists of the first half of the 20th century in the field of graphic design, covers a wide range of disciplines and types of graphic and decorative activity, from stock graphics (posters, invitations, announcements, New Year’s cards and ex libris) to book and magazine design, ornamental designs and patterns to typography. Against the backdrop of Preissig’s extraordinary life destiny, defined by significant historical events, we trace the artist’s major creative stages, which brought him specific tasks, offered various opportunities and determined his orientation – especially his studies in Paris, his own studio, his relocation to the United States, his work in the First Resistance, his teaching activities at the Wentworth Institute in Boston, his work for American printers and publishers, his collaboration with the State Printing House in Prague, his return to Czechoslovakia and his work in the Second Resistance.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
