The English version of the Czech catalogue, published for the cycle of fourteen exhibitions The Story of a Prefabricated House, realized in 2014-2017, presents twenty-five (not only) prefabricated housing estates from all regions of the Czech Republic.

It is divided into six chapters according to development stages, which trace the changes in economic, social and cultural conditions as well as technical possibilities in the construction industry. The book introduces readers to the circumstances and reasons for the construction of housing estates, the architecture and urbanism of these units and the personalities of their authors. Included are studies on the periodization of the development of housing estates, the beginnings of the construction of prefabricated housing estates and its reverberations, the changes in the the changes in the demographic characteristics of the population of housing estates, and the development of furniture for prefabricated housing, including a case of furniture for prefabricated housing, including a case study on life in Prague’s South Town. All this is accompanied by extensive contemporary and contemporary photographic documentation.
