Popis

The author Sylva Petrová, curator of the UPM’s collection of modern and contemporary glass, focused on works in public, originally sacred space realized by Stanislav Libensky and Jaroslava Brychtová between 1964 and 2003 in Bohemia and Moravia. Among the works of these renowned glass artists, pioneers of fused glass sculpture, are the windows in the Chapel of St. Wenceslas in St. Vitus Cathedral, the Chapel of St. Anne in St. George’s Monastery at Prague Castle, the Chapel of the Holy Trinity at Horšovský Týn Castle and the Castle Chapel at Špilberk in Brno. Sylva Petrová evaluates these realisations in the broader context of the time and the collaboration of both artists with architects, but also in the meaningful context of the role of light in sacred architecture. It brings an enriched view of the works of both artists, a new interpretation and thus an updated definition of the artistic legacy of this author and partner duo.
