ON DEMAND / GUIDED TOUR / THE MUSEUM OF DECORATIVE ARTS – MAIN BUILDING
The permanent exhibition presents a vivid and lively picture of European applied art from antiquity to 20th and 21st century design. Its central theme is art in the flow of life. The exhibition explores the specific and highly interesting nature of applied art and design, which transcend purely visual experiences. More than in other areas of artistic creation, the existential meaning of things, their purpose, and the discovery of for whom, how, and why they were created come to the fore here. However, these connections do not overshadow the quality of the exhibits themselves, the uniqueness of the works and their creators, or the poetry and mystery of everyday objects.
We offer vouchers for guided tours for smaller groups of up to 10 people and larger groups of up to 20 people, valid for one year from the date of purchase. The date of the tour must be arranged at least one week in advance by emailing objednavky@upm.cz. Participants in the guided tour pay the admission fee to the exhibition separately.
