Furniture used for relaxation is often missing in museum exhibitions, let alone how such furniture should work for the 21st century visitor? The project Development and implementation of a prototype of smart seating furniture for the UPM permanent exhibition, on which the museum collaborated with mmcité and which was supported by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, dealt with exactly this topic. The result is this exhibition and the prototype of the sit&see bench, which was the result of a collaboration between the UPM and its curator, Iva Knobloch, and the mmcité team, David Karásek, Viktor Šašinka and Klara Zedníková. Mmcité is one of the internationally acclaimed and sought-after producers of furniture in public space and deals with complex solutions for urban furniture.
At the exhibition, you can not only try out the bench, but also compare it with the seating furniture in 20th century exhibitions. Thorough information about the project is provided by the publication of the same name, which is the first in the Czech lands to present the history of seating furniture in expositions (Iva Knobloch) and the development of outdoor furniture (Mariana Kubištová).
