Bohumil Kubišta, jeden ze zakladatelů české moderní malby a průkopník kubismu, nacházel v zátiších sestavených z všedních věcí symbolizaci řádu a prostoty obyčejného života. Zátiší s vázami je působivé plasticitou zobrazených předmětů, odkazujících ke klasické tradici, a zároveň jejich spirálovitým pohybem a expresivní geometrizací, zvýrazněnou silným bočním osvětlením i vnitřním vyzařováním. Tušíme zde významové pozadí této kombinace protikladných forem – oblé, žensky jemné křivky váz kontrastující s ostrostí geometrických tvarů.
Bohumil Kubišta, one of the founders of Czech modern painting and a pioneer of Cubism, explored the symbolization of order and the simplicity of ordinary life in his still-life paintings composed of everyday objects. Impressive in his Still Life with Vases is the plasticity of the depicted objects that allude to classical tradition. Equally noteworthy are their spiral motion and expressive geometricality, emphasized by strong side lighting and inner radiance. We sense here the underlying significance of this combination of opposite forms – the round, delicately feminine curves of the vases contrasting with the sharpness of the geometric shapes.
